Align stakeholders and shape incentives:
Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (MSPs)
The MSPs under TLI are strategic national-level forums which mobilize government agencies, private sector actors, and civil society to rethink and rewrite the “rules of the game” for land investment.
The MSPs convene to discuss complex governance challenges which regulate investments in the land, agrifood, and forestry sectors as well as to innovate ways to attract more responsible investors who generate value for their companies, surrounding communities, and the economies in which they are embedded.
These platforms aim to overhaul business-as-usual approaches to regulating and rewarding land investments while promoting the enabling conditions to grow more collaborative business ecosystems, drive sustainable agroecological transitions and truly transform food systems.
Members of the MSPs include governmental, private sector, and civil society actors from the land, agriculture and agrifoods, forestry and development sectors as well as rights-based organizations and traditional leaders to effectively integrate the holistic design principles of agroecology into the foundation of the MSPs.
Strengthen collective action:
Communities of Practice (CoPs)
CoPs in the TLI programme are dynamic, country-level forums that bring together civil society organizations (CSOs) to strengthen their collective capacity to influence land-based investments (LBIs).
These communities may be formalized consortia or a loose network of CSOs sharing a common commitment to transforming LBIs into opportunities for agroecological transitions. While each CoP sits within its own national political and social landscape, they share a common mission: ensuring that LBIs prioritize environmental sustainability, equity and benefit sharing, and inclusive governance.
Through capacity sharing and joint strategy development, the CoPs empower member organizations to move from standalone projects to coordinated collective action.
